At the Wagtail Kitchen, food is not so much a business we’re passionate about, as a passion we’ve made a business out of.
We were brought together by a mutual love of good food, and there’s nothing we enjoy more than sharing that enthusiasm with like-minded customers. We both come from very different careers, (mental health nursing for Steve, textiles for Kate) but life often takes you down an unexpected path, and, having met (online) and married (offline), we decided we wanted to make good food for everyone to enjoy. We are lucky to live and work in a wonderful part of the UK, right next to the Lake District. So what better place to set up the cafe and our kitchen?
For us, food really matters. It matters what it is made from, with a focus on local ingredients. And it matters how it’s made, with the emphasis on real home cooked food that avoids artificial additives and flavourings.
We have been humbled by the demand for our pies during the Coronavirus shutdown. That's why we have set up this very rough and ready website to try and make it easy for you to get hold of our pies.
